Fashion, bikes, celebrities, club and music scene of the San Francisco SoMa's of the 70s and 80s is a vignette Leica magazine gave to Vincent Anton Stornaiuolo in its feature article about him and their far-famed cameras. But Vincent Anton is not just an haute couture photographer... His passion for photography started in Rome where he studied cinematography, assisted at the film productions of Federico Felini's The Clowns and produced mural-sized fashion photoprints for Via Veneto boutiques. This work became the foundation on which he built his career in the USA, where he returned to work as a freelance photojournalist for the late Sam Houston of United Press International, for various TV production companies and NASA. His early works were published in the oft underground magazines known as Damage, Boulevards, Another Room, Failsafe and more. After a segment of his work and many cameras sank along with a ship he was on with his film team covering a Guatemala earthquake survivors, Vincent turned solely to the photography. He tried his hand as a freelancer fashion photographer and earned many lucrative commissions in San Francisco, London and Paris. Also, a leader of a non-conformist culture, he and his models were all about authenticity, often using their own costumes and counterbalancing the polished style of high gloss editorials in any original way possible. Vincent Anton stays true to his believes even today and keeps working outside of any trendy box, whether capturing people, nature or a daily life around us. He lives with his wife in the Lake County, California.
